9 Jul 1917:	Honoured Military Medal, Bullecourt (Second), In the operations at Bullecourt, France on 4-5 May 1917, for conspicuous gallantry. Private Brown worked continuously for 24 hours carrying wounded in the neighbourhood of the railway embankment. Most of the carrying was done through heavy barrage fire and he set a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty to the squad of stretcher bearers of who he had charge.
