Ellis, Fredrick James was born in Peckham, England but moved to Prospect, Adelaide, South Australia. He worked as a striker and he was single. He enlisted into the AIF on 28/4/1916 and embarked on the HMAT Ballarat A70 on 12/8/1916. His service number was 3546. His last rank was private and his last unit was 32nd Battalion, 8th Reinforcement. He has received a British War Medal and a Victory Medal. He died on the 7/6/1973 and was buried in the Dudley Park Cemetery.

During the war he was badly injured by a shell on 24/3/1918, during the early days of the German Spring Offensive. After some months ecovering in England, he was returned to Australia for medical discharge.
