RELATIONSHIP
Frank Ernest Welling is my first cousin 3 times.
Until recently my siblings, cousins et al knew almost nothing about our relative Frank and his war service.
A meeting with a local researcher for Fromelles association contact me for the reasoning of providing a DNA sample for unknown soldier indent.
Frank was in fact married prior to enlisting to Florence Jane Bryant on 16 August 1911 and they had a child Ernest William August 1912.
Tragedy struck and both child & wife died respectively in 1 July 1913 and 26th November 1914.
We believe that this may have been a reason behind Frank enlisting in the AIF
Last year the great news came through that Frank had been identified via way of DNA, and was given a service with new headstone
RIP Frank
