Full name is William Alymer Campbell O'Keeffe but served as Aylmer Campbell O'Keeffe.

Son of his father, Thomas Henry O'Keeffe and Ellen O'Keeffe nee Higgins of  Tootha, Walgett, NSW.

Brother of Sidney Charles O'Keeffe who was killed in action on 9 August 1916 while serving with the 15th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial and Thomas O'Keeffe who returned to Australia on 3 August 1919 having served with the 6th Light Horse Regiment.

Commenced return to Australia on 12 May 1919 aboard HT Port Napier disembarking on 4 July 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane

During 1923c Aylmer married Johanna Gertrude Potter in Sydney, NSW
