BOOTLE AUSTRALIAN KILLED.
Many readers will learn with regret that Pte. Harry Foddy, of the Australian Imperial Force, was killed in action at Gallipoli between the 21st and 25th August last. The deceased, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Foddy, 355, Hawthorne-road, Bootle, was at one time employed by Messrs. Thomas Anderson and Sons, Derby-road, but later secured a berth in the service of the White Star Co., as steward, sailing on the R.M.S. Runic. Going to Sydney at the early part of the year, he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force, and accompanied them to Gallipoli. For many years he was connected with the Bootle Baptist Church, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The deceased was only 21 years of age. His brother Walter, who belonged to the 2nd South Lancashire Regiment, was killed at Remnel in February. Mr. and Mrs. Foddy have received many letters of condolence, including one from their Majesties the King and Queen.

His brothers Walter Foddy and Clement John Foddy also fell.

Another brother James Foddy survived the war and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery under shellfire.

Mrs J. Foddy, of Hawthorne-road, Bootle, has received work that her husband, Private James Foddy, has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery under shellfire. He is the second son of Mrs. W.
