Personal Details:
Hubert was born in Nairne to parents Walter and Elizabeth in 1897. He was educated at Mt Barker School and was a framer’s labourer by trade. He was 5’4½” inches tall with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and dark hair.

Enlistment Details:
Hubert enlisted in Adelaide on the 2nd September 1915 at the age of 18 years and 3 months, and was assigned to the 13th Reinforcement of the 3rd Light Horse Regiment.
 
Details about his role in War:
 
Hubert left Adelaide on the 11th of January 1916 aboard the HMAS Borda bound for Egypt. He arrived in Egypt in time to be taken on strength by the 1st Light Horse Regiment on the 1st of March 1916. On the 15th May he was the transferred to the Artillery Details before he embarked on H.M.T “Coraioan” on the 28th. On the 24th October 1916 Hubert was marched out to Boyton; England. He then proceeded overseas to France before he was again taken on strength and then posted to the 114th Battery. He was then assigned to the 5th Army Sea Side Rest Camp on the 14th of June 1917, then he rejoined the unit later that month. He was then killed in action on the 16th of August 1917.
 
Age at Death: Killed in action on the 11th of August 1917 aged 20 years.
