Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Youngest of two brothers who died in WWI, Private Percy James Scott (Service No:4599) enlisted in the AIF on 19 October 1915, and was attached to 11th Battalion 14th Reinforcements when he embarked with his brother (Private Douglas Proctor Scott; Service No:4598) from Fremantle for Marseilles, France via Suez on 12 February 1916 on board HMAT A28 Militades. Private Scott was hospitalised with Influenza, and died of illness on 5 May 1916 - brother Douglas was KiA on 25 July 1916.

Percy was born in Minninup via Stratham, Western Australia in 1889, fourth of nine children of William Proctor Scott (b1856 in Eelup via Bunbury, Western Australia) and his first wife Lavinia Susannah Higgins (b1856 at Springfield via Capel, Western Australia). William and Lavinia married in 1881 in Picton, and settled at Minninup via Stratham, where they raised their family and William was a Farmer. Following Lavinia's death in 1916, William remarried.

Percy was a Farmer at Minninup via Stratham when he enlisted, with older brother Douglas, in the AIF in 1915.
