He was a Bombardier/Gunner in the 14th Field Artillery Brigade Australian Infantry (AIF) and a son of Edward B. and Gertrude Lavinia Nusser, of 11, Edmund Rd., Saltley, Birmingham, England. He was 'A very clever pianist' according to his father. He was the brother of Joseph, Mary, Roland and Mabel Nusser. In 1911 they lived at 32 Glapton Road, Meadows, Nottingham.

His unit embarked 15/9/1915 from Melbourne, Victoria aboard SS Makarini. He drowned at sea aged 22 returning to Australia between 08 May 1919 and 09 May 1919, body lost.
