"...6059 Private Edward Walter McKernan, 16th Battalion, of Bunbury, WA. A boatman prior to enlistment, Pte McKernan embarked on board HMAT Miltiades(A28) on 7 August 1916. He served in Belgium and France. On 11 April 1917 he was wounded and captured at Bullecourt. He died as a prisoner of war in a German military hospital at Valenciennes, France, on 13 June 1917.
