Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Norman Lachlan Creswick, 21 years, of the 36th Battalion was killed in action at Messines on the 11 June 1917. This was 4 days after his brother Private Thomas Sefton Creswick 37th Battalion had also been killed during the start of the Messines attack.

Norman was a battalion runner, known as “Bluey”. A mate said he was killed by a shell while bringing up a message, and his body was quite unmarked, killed by the concussion. He said “Bluey” Creswick was very popular, “one of the best, humorous and merry and always ready to do anything for a fellow.”

A third brother, Corporal Hector Arthur Creswick, who also served in Belgium, returned home to Australia in 1919.
