Son of Edward Arthur and Emma Nurcombe of NSW. Brother of Oswald Arthur Nurcombe of Bank Street, Meadowbank, NSW, Robert Stanley Nurcombe who returned to Australia on 22 July 1917 for discharge due to shrapnel wound to the right eye while serving with the 4th Battalion
