Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

William James Horne was the younger brother of 2294 Pte. Herbert Harold Aaron Horne 40th Battalion AIF who was killed in action two days earlier on 22 April 1918.

They were the sons of John and Mary Anne Horne, of Bothwell, Tasmania, who had to deal with the loss of two sons within days of each other.
