Son of John O'Neill and Jane O'Neill nee Bradley of East Street, East Fremantle, WA.

Brother of John O'Neill who returned to Australia on 10 April 1919 having served with the 2nd Tunnelling Company and being a Prisoner of War. 

Commenced return to Australia on 3 March 1919 aboard HT Euripides disembarking 10 April 1919
