He was the son of Walter James Griffen Moore and Eliza Moore, of Shoreham, Sevenoaks, England. He was awarded the Military Medal.

His middle name was Geoffrey, not Jeffrey and he appears to have used Geoffrey as his forename.

 

For conspicuous gallantry in the attack on post 54 at MOUQUET FARM on the 26th August, 1916, when he maintained his position in an open sap against an enemy counter-attack, rendering most valuable assistance at a critical time.'
