Probably wounded in action 8 May 1915, at Krithia, where his brother Albert James Paulig was killed in action on the same day. Henry Paulig was taken on board the hospital ship “Guildford Castle” and he died of wounds between Gallipoli and Alexandria, 14 May 1915. He was buried at sea by Chaplain R. Primrose.
"He was a prominent member of the Ballarat Ironworkers' Association, Ballarat Rowing Club, and the Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium, and was a fine, strapping young fellow" The Evening Echo (Ballarat) 27 May 1915.
