He was promoted to Lance Sergeant on 1st April 1917.

He is remembered on the Stoke Newington War Memorial which stands in Abney Park Cemetery where he was laid to rest with full military honours.

He was 27 and the son of Charles Philip and Ellen Minnie Mills, of 3, Salisbury Terrace, Stoke, Devonport.
