His birth was registered in Orsett which registration district covered Tilbury in those days.

On the 1901 census for 24 Toronto Road, Tilbury, Arthur was shown as 6 years old and the eldest of the three children of Arthur and Mary.
He was 24 and the son of Mary Ann E. V. Greaves [nee Dawson] and the late Arthur Greaves, of 9, Sydney Rd., Tilbury Docks, Essex, England. They married locally in 1891; Mary passed away, aged 78 in 1950. He had been wounded at Gallipoli in 1915.In the issue of 26th August 1916, the Grays and Tilbury Gazette recorded that Arthur had been felled in the great advance
In the United Kingdom, he is commemorated on the Tilbury War Memorial in Civic Square, Tilbury, Essex and on the war memorial in St John’s church, Dock Road, Tilbury.
