Military Cross
"For gallantry, bravery and initiative during the attack near VERGUYER, September 18, 1918. Lt. Fitzhardinge, ast Transport Officer, was instrumental in the supply of SAA and Trench Mortar ammunition provided most successfully by the working of Pack Mules under the Direct Supervision of this Officer. During the whole of the attack under trying and difficult circumstances, he made repeated trips with pack mule sand limbers to Battalion HQ and the front line, often under considerable shell and MG fire. He was solely responsible for establishing and maintaining supplies to Battalion Dump. The loyalty and good work of Lt. Fitzhardinge during the operation was most conspicuous."
