Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of John George THOMPSON and Sophia Ann THOMPSON nee SPRING

Word was received yesterday by
Mr. Geo. Thompson, of Lava-street East, through the Rev. F. P. Williams, acting vicar of Christ Church, that his son, Pte. J. G. F. Thompson, who was reported in yesterday’s ‘Standard' as missing, had been killed in action. Pte. Thompson was a member of the Eighth Light Horse which suffered so severely in the recent engagement at Gallipoli. He was 24 years of age and was very popular locally. Much sympathy is felt for his relatives.
