20 Dec 1917:	Honoured Military Medal, Battle of Messines, On the night of June 7th he showed great bravery and splendid devotion to duty carrying wounded men to shelter. Four times he lead his squad through a heavy enemy barrage to an isolated post, each time returning with a wounded man until the post was clear.
