The son of James and Margaret Morrissey, Denman, New South Wales.  Before enlisting he was employed in the Denman Co-operative Butter Factory.

He was killed during a counter attack at Lagnicourt in an effort to recapture an outpost the Germans had taken on 15 April 1917.
