ALSON.—On April 27, at Dawes road Hospital, Percival George Alson, late Postmaster, Virginia, and Sgt., 43rd Batt., First AIF, beloved elder son of Freda (Gard) and the late George  Alson, and loving brother of Ivy (Mrs. L. Grater, Sydney). Aged 62 years. At rest.

Percival George Alson was born in February of 1884, in Adelaide, South Australia, and had two siblings. He was married to a woman named Eileen Sybella, and she was listed as his next of kin. His job was a traveller, and his hometown was Port Pirie, in South Australia. Alson was 5'7", weighed 63 kilograms, his eyes and hair were brown, and his chest was slightly above 36 inches. His mother’s name was Freda Gard, and his sister was Ivy, the other sibling's name could not be found.

Alson enlisted when he was 31 years old on the 17th of September 1915, having six years of experience in the Militia as a member of the Port Pirie Rifle Club. He was first appointed in the Second Depot Battalion, only to leave for NCO school to become a Sergeant. Out of the 27 groups created, he was in the 11th group, becoming a sergeant on 20th of March 1916. He embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board the HMAT A19 AFRIC on the 9th of June 1916. Alson, embarked from Egypt and disembarked at Marseilles, France, in July 1916 with the 43rd Infantry Battalion B section, where he would fight. His regimental number was 983.

On the 27th of April 1947, Alson died in Daws Road Hospital in South Australia, at the age of 63. He now rests in Centennial Park Cemetery in Adelaide, South Australia.
