Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts
In last week's casualty list appeared the name of Lance-Cpl. G.A. . Selway, died of wounds, June 18th. At the time of enlisting he was connected with our church at Beeac. He was on board the Southland when torpedoed, and helped to stoke her into port. Later he distinguished himself in France, and was awarded the D.C.M. for conspicuous gallantry in action as a runner and guide. He was the first to volunteer to carry a, message, and faced heavy enemy barrages without a moment's hesitation, succeeding in his efforts, until finally wounded. He was sent to England, and, after recovering, returned to France, was again wounded, and paid the supreme sacrifice in the sacred cause of righteousness, liberty, arid humanity. He
Was a, fine stamp of a Christian. In his last letter to one of our ministers he finished thus : 'I am now off to a Fellowship Circle held in the Y.M.C.A. Hut, which is followed by a prayer meeting.'
