25 Jul 1918: | Honoured Military Cross and bar, Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. He showed great gallantry in leading his men, and personally repairing broken telephone lines under very heavy fire. He set a fine example throughout. Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 116 Date: 25 July 1917 Bar to Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of a cable burying party, and late of all communications forward from cable head. He showed great courage, energy and powers of organisation in maintaining communication, and personally led parties to repair lines under heavy fire.
