Son of Hermann Haase and Katherine Haase nee Letts of Wedderburn, Victoria.

Brother of Leroy Haase who died on 26 October 1917 of wounds while serving with the 60th Battalion and was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Plot XX11, Row C, Grave 7A, Shirley Dinwiddie Haase, Colin Hermann Haase, Margaret Mona Haase, Lorna May Haase and Emily Gretchen Haase
