Percy enlisted in Adelaide on 24 May 1915 aged 20, and served as a signaller with the 13th/1st Division Signalling Company. By 15 May 17 he had attained the permanent rank of Sergeant. He lived in Willunga both before and after the war and is related to Capt James Stanley Malpas MC. Malpas Road which runs off the main road between McLaren Vale and Willunga is named for the family. Percy married Jean Mary Langley in 1922. Later while living in Glenelg he also served in WW2. He died in Willunga aged 63 years and was buried at Centennial Park His wife Jean died in 1982.
