T. P. CHASE enlisted on 31st July and embarked as Private in reinforcements to 8th Battalion on 29th December 1915. He arrived in
Egypt on 30th January 1916, and in April was transferred to 59th Battalion. He arrived in France in June 1916 and took part in Battle of
Fleurbaix and all the winter campaign on the Somme in 1916-17 until Ypres in August, and Polygon Wood in September 1917, when he was
wounded.
On his return from hospital in England to his battalion he remained with it till Armistice, taking part in actions at Villers-Bretonneux, Peronne and Bellicourt.
He returned to Australia in August and was discharged on 12th October 1919.
