Enlisted at Keswick Barracks on 8/6/1915, aged 21 years. Posted as 10th Reinforcements 16th Infantry Battalion July 1915, served at Gallipoli; transferred to 48th Infantry Battalion March 1916 in Middle East. Transferred to 111th Howitzer Battery; 4th Division Artillery, served in France. Returned to Australia 21/5/1919 on board Cluny Castle.
