Births Mar 1888 SHEPHERD Harold Ralph Hackney 1b 587.
He enlisted at Pentland, Queensland, Australia. He was 29 at death.
His brother, 18 year old Private James Harper Shepherd of the 1st/5th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division was killed in action near Richebourg L`Avoue, 9th May 1915.
They were sons of Charles and Mary Elizabeth Shepherd, of 15, Alexander Rd., Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex.
He is remembered on the Bexhill-on Sea War Memorial which stands on the sea front. Also honoured there is Trooper Stuart Roy Luxmoore Hockin of the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment who died in 1915.
