He was 26 and the son of George and Catherine Morrison, of Culcairn, Invergordon, Scotland.

He is remembered on the Alness War Memorial. Alness (Scottish Gaelic: Alanais) is a town and civil parish in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. It lies near the Cromarty Firth, with the town of Invergordon 3 miles to the east, and the village of Evanton 4 miles to the south west.

His place of birth is not clear-according to CWGC, he was a native of Ross-shire-that is where his father lived. Rosebank is in South Lanarkshire but there may have been a place called Rosebank in In Invergordon, Ross-shire.

He is also commemorated, along with New Zealander, Donald Stewart, on the Ardross War Memorial. Ardross (Scottish Gaelic: Àird Rois, high-point of [Easter] Ross) is a rural area in the Highland region of Scotland, 30 miles  north of the nearest city, Inverness. Ardross lies 10 miles inland from the east-coast town of Alness and progressively becomes more mountainous to the west and north.
