Son of Patrick Joseph O'Donoghue and Bridget Gertrude O'Donoghue nee Lockton of Wagin, WA.
Brother of Patrick George O'Donoghue who returned to Australia on 25 August 1915 having served with the 12th Battalion; John Stephen O'Donoghue who returned to Australia on 17 February 1919 having served with the 3rd Training Brigade Headquarters.
