Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

One of the young men of Nundah who volunteered to go abroad with the Australian Imperial Forces was Arthur Henry, only son of Edwin and Stella Proctor of Union Street.
An active member of the local militia, Arthur was a trained and experienced signalman on enlistment. He saw service in Gallipoli and later in France with the Australian Imperial Forces from June 1915 to September 1919 in the 26th Battalion and the 2nd Pioneer Battalion. He was commissioned in the field in April 1917.
Arthur Proctor returned safely from active service to marry Millicent Brocklehurst Gee, daughter of the Rev. John James Gee and Mrs Gee of Nundah, and joined his father in their business as timber merchants and builders' suppliers in Union Street.
E Proctor & Son was an active and prosperous business and a well-known part of the Nundah business scene, employing a staff of fifty, with company mills in the country supplying the local mill with timber.
