MR. R. C. THORN.
A link with the early pioneers of Queensland was removed by the death recently of Mr. Ronald Charles Simon Thorn, Nundah, at the age of 76 years. His grand parents erected the first house in Ipswich. His father, the late Mr. C. Thorn, lived at Normanby Station, near Warrill View. His mother, a step-daughter of Dr. Gunn, arrived in Brisbane on Separation Day (December 10, 1859).
The late Mr. Thorn served in World War No. 1, when he was gassed, and he had been an invalid up to the time of his death. He died in Rosemount Hospital. The late Mr. Thorn had a fine tenor voice and he sang at many functions in aid of charity. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss A. McCallum, and two sons, Messrs. R. and A. Thorn. There also are two sisters, Mesdames W. Francis and J. M. Ashburn, and one granddaughter.
