Son of Thomas Combs, Corack West via Donald, Victoria
Walter had previously served with the 4th Western Australian Imperial Bushmen in South Africa in the Boer War.
PRIVATE WALTER COMBS,
8th A.L.H. (killed), was born and educated in the Ballarat district. He served through the Boer war with the West Australian contingents, and was the son of Mr. T. Combs, of Corack, and grandson of the late Mr. W. Combs, one of the early pioneers of the Donald district.
