W J Handley WWI
Enlisted 8 August 1915 age 23 at Warwick Farm at rank of Private after taking an Oath on the 23 Aug.1915 he was placed in10th Reinforcement 3rd. Battery.and sent to Tel-el-Kebiron 5 Jun. 1916. On the 29 Aug 1916 he was admitted to Hospital. After treatment was sent to Field unit Berry Post and sent on to Alexandria and France. He was transferred to 55th Battery.BR 38. after a short time sent to the 14th Light Trench mortar Battery, (late 3rd battalion) It was here he was again admitted to Hospital with Shell shock after being moved all over France he was sent home to Australia on 25 May 1919 and was discharged 18 Jul.1919 with the rank of L.Corporal.
Received the Star, British War and Victory Medles. He was 5ft 41/2 in. tall, 113 lb. in weight, a 35 inch chest Fair complexion, Blue eye, Auburn Hair. religion C of E and his Occupation ; Butcher
