Arthur G Butler was killed in action on the 5 May 1917 by shellfire when the 4th Battalion was in support near Bullecourt. Although not in the front line the 4th Battalion lost 37 men killed to the very heavy German shelling of their positions on this day.
His brother Joseph Russell Butler served for over 3 years with the 2nd and 54th Battalions.
