Only son of William and Margaret Spotswood of 48 Victoria Street, Footscray, Victoria
Private C. W. S. Spotswood was the only son of Mr and Mrs W. Spotswood, of 45 Victoria street, Footscray and was officially reported as killed in action on June 25th. Enlisting in May last year at the age of 18 years, he sailed from Sydney two months later for the front with his comrade. George Drayton, now reported killed in action, and was 19 years of age when he met his death. Prior to enlisting he was a clerk in the Victorian railways and had a promising future before him. He was 2nd Lieut. in the Footscray Senior Cadets and took great interest in military matters. Private Spotswood was an old scholar of the Hyde street school and finished his education at Mr Tom's Albert Park Grammar Shcool.
