Son of Thomas and Mahala Thornton of Argyle Street, Camden, NSW. Brother of Dudley Thornton, Francis Thornton, Hazel Thornton, Dulcie Thornton, Iley Thornton and Elsie Cant nee Thornton

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Also served in the cadets

Apprenticed to Cameron J. Pinkerton for about 4 years
