George William Woodbridge was born on the 6th of August 1899 in Mosman (1). Due to the Christian faith of his parents, Ellen and Frederick Woodbridge (6), George William Woodbridge was baptised at St Clement's Church in Mosman on the 3rd of September, 1899 (7). Woodbridge enrolled in Sydney Technical High School (8) in 1912, making many friends, doing well in school and living in his hometown, Watsons Bay (9). On the 5th August 1917, he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (10). George was ready for training and combat at just 17 years of age (12).

 On the 2nd of March 1918, (13) 5 machine gun battalions were formed with George being a part of the 1st Machine Gun Battalion (14). George and his newly formed unit would train until the 8th of May 1918 where they embarked from Australia to France on the RMS Osterley (15). Once he arrived in England, George completed more training at Codford. He proceeded overseas to France 29th October 1918 only days before the armistice. 

George William Woodbridge returned from France to England on the 6th of July 1919 (24) on board the H.T. Boonara and disembarked 26th August 1919

Woodbridge lived the remainder of his life in Sydney after getting married to his wife, Mary B Johnston in 1924 (27). George worked as an advisor for a major gas industry company, “The Australian Gas Light Co. (28)” George William Woodbridge passed away on the 28th of February in Moruya, New South Wales due to an unknown cause.
