Percy Algernon St George BOWMAN stated he was born in Eastbourne, Sussex, England although his birth & baptism are registered in India - he enlisted & served under the alias Percy Bridges BALLARD

He was born on 1st October, 1889 in Bengal, India

His parents were Percy Bridges BOWMAN & Mary Eliza BALLARD - his father died in December, 1935 in Johannesburg, South Africa and his mother remarried to a HENNESSEY

He had previously served in the Behar Light Horse in India for 5 years before coming to Australia where he enlisted in Morphetville, South Australia on 15th September, 1914 and embarked with the 12th Infantry Battalion, E Company from Hobart, Tasmania on the Transport ship Geelong on 20th October, 1914

Percy was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 25th April, 1915 - no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Lone Pine Memorial
