Frank L. Cousins was born in 1887. He entered the service in 1904, being appointed junior teacher at Long Gully, Bendigo. After a transfer to Waanyarra, he took charge of schools at Corack East, Gunbower Island West, and Teal Point. Official records refer to his interest in his work.
In civil life, Lieutenant Cousins was prominent in social affairs. He was president of the Teal Point Debating Society and the local tennis club.
He enlisted as a Private on the 17th of July, 1915, and embarked with the 11th Reinforcements to the 7th Battalion. While training at Tel-el-Kebir, in Egypt, he was transferred to the 59th Battalion.
He was promoted Sergeant on the 1st of April, 1916, and to commissioned rank on the Ist of June.
He went with his unit to France on the 29th of June, and was killed on the 19th of July.
He left behind him a widow (Mrs. M. Cousins, of Laurence-street, Dunolly) and one child.
