On Monday September 6th, 1920 he married Mary Everingham, daughter of Mr and Mrs Canon Everingham at St Matthew's Anglican Church, Guildford by Rev. Gretereaux. They would later have two children.

A keen golfer, he was held in high esteem by the people of Narrogin. Tragically, after serving as the branch manager of Narrogin Elder, Smith & Co. for 16 years he died from contracting tetanus after being bitten by a sheep. He died at the age of 42 on 9 June 1935.
