Son of Charles Arthur Vicary and Grace Emily Vicary of  East Emlett, Morehard Bishop Devon, England.

Brother of Arthur James Vicary who returned to Australia on 3 January 1918 having served with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade; Richard Vicary who returned to Australia on 12 May 1917 having served with the 17th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 23 March 1919 aboard HT Cluny Castle disembarking on 21 May 1919 at Adelaide for onward travel to Sydney

During 1921c Frederick married Amy Rosetta Weiss in gosford, NSW
