He is one of three Australian Thomson honoured on the Jedburgh War Memorial-the others are George and Robert Hume Thomson-shown as R.T. Thomson on the Memorial.
Also honoured here is Third Engineer James Oliver Murray, aged 33 who died whilst serving in the Mercantile Marine aboard the S.S. "Australdale" (Brisbane) on 19/10/1917. He was born in Jedburgh, the son of the late Robert and Barbara Murray; husband of Elizabeth Purves Murray (nee Scott), of Borough View, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire.
