Sometimes referred to as Herbert Lelsie Vincent.

Son of David Vincent and Margaret Vincent nee Wells of Woodstock, Huon, Tasmania. Brother of John David Vincent who died of bronchial pneumonia in England on 30 January 1919 and is buried in the Sutton Veny (St. John) Churchyard, Wiltshire, England having served with the 12th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 5 November 1917 aboard HT Themistocles disembarking on 31 December 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart aboard a streamer.

On 24 April 1920 Leslie married Lucy Grace Talbot in Hobart, Tasmania
