Son of Ernest Edward Usher and Sarah Usher nee Campbell of Back River, Tasmania.
Commenced return to Australia 21 May 1917 aboard HS Neurlia from Suez before disembarking at Capetown. On 26 August 1917 he re-embarked for Australia from Capetown aboard HT Ceramic and disembarked on 15 September 1917.
