A DIGGER'S FUNERAL.
Last week the death occurred in the new soldiers' wing at the Perth Public Hospital of Edward Foster a 24-year-old ex-member of the 10th A.L.H. and 15th Battery.
A son of Mr. William Foster of Wellington Mills, he was born at Jarradale, and enlisted with the 'Tenth' in 1914, subsequently transferring to the 15th Battery.
The remains, encased in a massive jarrah casket, which was covered by the Union Jack and Flag of Australia, were interred in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Karrakatta, the cortege moving from the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. Norman Foster, 9 Commonwealth Avenue, Leederville. The Rev. Father Butler officiated at the graveside, and at the conclusion of the ceremony delivered a touching address on the deceased's past life.
The chief mourners were Mr. And Mrs. W. Foster (father and mother), Mrs. E. Preisig, Mrs. W. Hennah, Mrs. E. Mills, and Mrs. N. Foster (sisters). Messrs. H. J. A. and H. Foster (brothers), Messrs. H. Hennah, E, Mills, E. Preisig, and N. Foster (brothers-in-law), Mrs. A. Sehunk and Mrs. A. Williams (aunts), Mr. Fred Williams (cousin), and Mr. S. Foster(nephew).
The pallbearers were Messrs. E. Hogg (representing the Deputy Commissioner and staff of the Department of Repatriation), W. Rogers, H. B. Pyke, E. Richards, J. R. White, N. Jackson, L. Bowtell, and A. Jamieson.
Wreaths were placed on the grave by his relatives and Winnie, nieces and nephews; patients at the Soldiers' Wing, Perth Hospital; Timber Workers' Union, Wellington Mills; Soldier Patients, Perth Hospital; R.S.L. Wellington Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Davey, Miss P. Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Griffon, Mr. and N. Jackson, and Mr. and Mrs. Cullen and family.
A large number of letters, tele grams, and messages of sympathy and condolence were received by the bereaved family.

AUTHORS NOTE:
When the Fremantle hospital closed their Soldier Repatriation ward, all patients were transferred to the new Perth hospital 20 January 1922, Edward died 3 days later because of serious heart issues. A number of official inquiries were held concerning his death
