Son of John and Eva Rose Pittendrigh of Fairfax Road, Boolaroo, NSW.

Brother of Alexander A. Pittendrigh, Gertrude Florence Pittendrigh, Charles Pittendrigh, John Pittendrigh and Edmund Pittendrigh who was killed in action on 22 August 1915 while serving with the 18th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial Panel 62
