Harry was born as Henry Twyford TRUMAN in 1897 in Sydney

His parents were Henry George TRUMAN and Sarah Twyford JONES who married on 14th December, 1896 at Christ Church, Lavender Bay, Sydney

He enlisted for WW1 on 11th January, 1916 and embarked with the 7th Field Artillery Brigade, Battery 2 on the HMAT Argyllshire on 11th May, 1916

He was Killed in Action on 19th April, 1918 and buried in Frechencourt Communal Cemetery, France

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Harrys brother  Keith R TRUMAN served in WW1 in the Flying Corp in South Africa and his Uncle Reginald Twyford JONES (SN3112) was Killed in Action in 1916

Gunner Harry Twyford Truman, who was killed on April, 19, was on active service for two years.  He was the eldest grandson of Mr & Mrs. Twyford-Jones of Lakemba and the nephew of Private R Twyford-Jones who was killed in France in 1916.  His only brother is serving in the Flying Corps in South Africa
