Son of Alexander Hogg of Dromore, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.
Later changed to his wife Jane Hogg nee McDowal of Tabernacle Terrace, Carmarthen, South Wales. William and Jane married on 25 October 1916 in the Carmarthen Congregational Church, South Wales. Minister D.J. Thomas officiated
